Introducing HS275
7 April, 2009
HS275 is the new, one-stage Permsolid top coat series, utilising High Solids technology.
One-stage means an application of one and a half coats with no flash-off, which can be up to 50% faster than the usual
two-coat process with flash-off.
"There are many benefits to using HS275", says Product & Training Manager, Paul Polverino. "In addition to the productivity benefits, there is less stock holding, with only 23 tints comprised of
21 x 1L, and 2 x 3.5 L, making a total of only 28 litres."
"Consumption is better than MS by between 30 - 40% due to the excellent coverage and easy application. And naturally, the new HS275 is lead-free and VOC compliant."
With MS technology being phased out in Europe and replaced with VOC
compliant technology, this is naturally ideal for current MS257 shops.
"Over the next 15 months or so we'll be gradually
transitioning MS257 shops to the new HS275 technology", Paul explains. "We envisage MS257 will still be available for the medium term, however we already have some MS customers very keen to convert to the new HS technology, which is available now to all MS shops that are keen to convert to this superior technology."

19 March, 2009
For most parts of Australia, warm to hot conditions are possible until May, for the Northern areas this can be the norm all year round, so it makes sense to use the most appropriate basecoat thinner blend for the conditions and size of the job.
Why 3056? "3056 was developed to best suit a temperature range of 25c - 35c," says Paul Polverino, Product & Training Manager. "Most bodyshops usually spray in booth conditions > 25c all year round!"
"3056 allows for better overspray absorption and metallic flow," continues Paul. "By using 3056, it is easier to achieve correct film builds and the painter is able to work at the correct speed and apply the right build and not over apply."
Using too fast a thinner can actually slow the painter's speed due to "forcing" or "struggling" to wet the film, this can lead to several problems:- Film builds too high with basecoat, trapped solvent and loss of gloss on final clear coats
- Reduce quality of appearance due to poor metallic laydown causing mottle and clouding
- Excessive use of product
- Poor profile of basecoat finish - leads to excessive peel and loss of gloss in clearcoat
There are many benefits to using 3056:
1. Easier application in warm/hot conditions and large jobs
2. Better laydown of metallics on critical colours ( Silvers, Golds etc)
3. Better colour match
4. Better overspray absorption
5. Less material consumption- more economical
6. Correct film builds and coverage rate
7. Better substrate for final clearcoat application
